Henry Beckett. He was a Passenger Cook on the Lusitania. He was born 27 July 1876 at Liverpool to James, born in late 1848 at Great Yarmouth, and Amelia Beckett, who had been born in mid-1848 at Liverpool. His parents were the James Henry, a mariner from Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, and Amelia Emma Sydebotham, a milliner born in Liverpool, who had married 5 May 1872 in Liverpool. In 1881, the Becketts lived at Candia Street in Kirkdale, Lancashire. Henry was 4 years old and he had a brother, Charles, 7. He married Margaret Reid 31 August 1898 in Walton-on-the-Hill. In 1911, he lived at Orrell in the Litherland area of West Derby, Lancashire, with his wife and children Harry, b. ca. 1899, Charles, b. ca. 1902, and Sydney, b. ca. 1910. He was listed James Henry Beckett and was described as a ship’s cook employed by a steam ships company. Prior to joining the Lusitania, he seems to have served as a crew member on the Campania (at least between 1902 and 1907). He survived the sinking of the Lusitania and continued a career at sea. In 1930, he was 2nd cook on the steamship Carinthia. He died in late 1940 in Liverpool, aged 64.
