Thomas Adamson. He was a First Class Waiter on the Lusitania. He was born 31 August 1882 in Macclesfield, England; this is what he stated on his seaman’s identity card. Other sources claim he was born 30 August 1880 in Paterson, New Jersey, the son of Thomas and Hannah Emily (nee Cornuaud) Adamson. His known brothers and sisters were Mary, b. ca. 1879, Ivey E., b. ca. 1880, Louis, b. ca. 1881, and William Esmond, b. 1887. In 1901, the family lived at Handfield Road in Waterloo, Lancashire. His father Thomas, 44, was noted as a master mariner born in Macclesfield and his mother Hannah E., 43, was a a native of Manchester. His sister Mary, 21, was also born in Macclesfield. His parents Thomas Adamson and Hannah Emily Cornuaud had married 3 September 1878 in Prestbury, Cheshire. In 1891, he lived with his mother, grandmother Charlotte Cornuaud, and three siblings in Formby, Lancashire. Also present in the household was Emily Carter, 36, a general domestic servant.
He was 5’8”, had dark hair and brown eyes and a fair complexion. Mr. Adamson survived the sinking of the Lusitania. He later continued to work as a first class waiter on the Mauretania and was still active at sea in 1932.
