Alexander Duncan. He was the Junior 2nd Engineer of the Lusitania. He was born 16 January 1881 in Renfrewshire, Scotland, to Robert McMillan, a postmaster and grocer b. 1854, and Mary (nee Leitch; b. 1845) Duncan. His parents had married 22 July 1872 in High Church, Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland. His known brothers and sisters were John, b. 6 February 1873, Margaret Smith, b. 21 July 1874, Mary, b. 1876, Emma, b. 1877, Agnes, b. 1879, Robert, b. 1882, and Janet, b. 1884. In 1891, the Duncan family lived at Hairst Street in Renfrew. In 1907 he served as a crew member on the steamer Campania. Alexander Duncan survived the sinking of the Lusitania. He was still active at sea in 1920 (on the Aquitania) and in February 1927 he served as the Staff Chief Engineer (asisstant chief engineer) on the Aquitania and in March 1935 he was the Chief Engineer of the Berengaria. At some point, he married Margaret Dickie Anderson.
