Eastwood, William Henry

095 William Henry Eastwood, age 59. He was a 2nd Cabin Bedroom Steward on the Lusitania and was the son of the late John, born about 1826 in Lancashire, in 1861 listed as ”gardener and bear house,”  and Anne Eastwood (born about 1825 in Ireland).  He was born 20 November 1855 and was christened 11 December 1855 in the church of St. Mary-the-Virgin in West Derby in the Church of England. In 1861, he lived with his family at Deys Lane in Lancashire. He had three younger brothers and sisters; John, 4, Ann J., 2, and James, an infant. It is possible he in 1881 was a butler in the household of William and Anastasia Millington at Woodhey Cottage in West Derby. He was the husband of Mary Eastwood (nee Hughes), of 233, Field Way, Garden Suburb, Wavertree, Lancasjore. William Henry Eastwood married Mary Hughes on 1 April, 1883 in Liverpool. In 1891, he lived with his wife at Darrel Street in West Derby, Lancashire. He was listed as a steward, aged 35. His wife was 33 and a native of Lilleshall, Shropshire. They had four children at the time; William Henry Eastwood, 6, David Joseph, 5, Eveline Mary, 3, and Frederick James, 1. In 1901, his wife lived at Earle Road, West Derby. There were three additional children in the family at the time; Dora Hughes, 7, Lillian May, 6, and Violet Ellen, 2. For some reason, Mrs. Eastwood was listed as the head of the family at the time.
