He was the son of William Henry Dimond, a boot maker born in early 1866 at Southport, of 7, Bridge Road, Edge Hill, Liverpool, and the late Annie (nee Cadwell; she had been born about 1868 at Southport) Dimond. His parents had married 29 April 1894 at the church of St. Luke in Southport, Lancashire in the Church of England. He was born at Southport (his birth was registered in late 1898 in the Ormskirk district of Lancashire) and was christened 13 November 1898 in St. Luke’s Church in Southport. In 1901, he was 2 years old and lived at Bispham Road in Southport with his parents and sister Annie S., 4, and brother William, an infant. His mother died in late 1903 in the Ormskirk district of Lancashire (of which Southport formed part). He was a Waiter on the Lusitania.
