A Charles Campbell had been born 26 June 1896 to Thomas and Elizabeth Campbell and was christened on 7 October 1896 in Saint Peter’s Church in Liverpool in the Church of England. In 1901, he was 5 years old and lived with his family at Penrhyn Street in Liverpool. His brothers and sisters were Harriet, 17, a domestic servant, Hugh, 15, a ship’s boiler scaler, Elizabeth, 11, and Thomas, 9.
